“Government’s Reaction Against PTI Protest Is Extraordinary; It Seems There Is a Story Behind This Reaction” — Sohail Warraich

Lahore (Qudrat Daily) — Analyst Sohail Warraich has said that the government’s reaction against the PTI protest is extraordinary; it seems there is a behind-the-scenes story behind this reaction. Compared to the government’s stated concerns, the preparations to stop the sit-in are becoming very strict.
Speaking on a Geo News program, he said that this has less to do with statements and more to do with the policy of the current regime. In the incident that occurred on November 26, the statements that came at that time said the same thing — that if anyone tried to come toward Islamabad, they would be dealt with strictly and would not be allowed to come. This current setup has adopted a very strict attitude against the previous method of blocking roads and holding sit-ins.
You can see how many days a sit-in has been ongoing in Kashmir; the same thing is being said there — that first end the sit-in, then we will listen to you. There is an example of how TLP tried to go to Islamabad and how strictly they were stopped; such a thing happened with that extremist group — there may be some reasons for it as well.

He said that I find it strange and unusual. Compared to the expectations from the PTI sit-in, the reaction is far greater. Gandapur’s processions used to number up to 30,000, but the assessment being made at this time is that there will not be that many people — yet the preparations to stop the sit-in are becoming very strict. There could be two reasons for the government’s measures to stop PTI’s long march. First, that a permanent arrangement will be made to stop protest sit-ins. Second, that the government’s reaction is extraordinary; perhaps an attempt is being made to get PTI to agree to something. I feel there is some story behind it.
On the other hand, the government has prepared a strategy to stop PTI protesters coming to Islamabad from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, under which it has been decided to dig trenches on the highways leading from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Islamabad. Media sources say that trenches will be dug on GT Road to stop the protesters. Trenches will be dug at 26 Number Chowngi, Pirwadhai, IGP Road, Sowan Road, and Katti Pahari. Similarly, obstacles will be placed on the routes leading from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Islamabad. Laborers have been summoned to dig the trenches, while sandbags are also being collected. The sandbags will be placed in containers.
