Pakistan Never Targets Civilians and Always Acts Transparently, Says Military Spokesperson

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Army spokesperson Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that Pakistan never targets civilians and always announces its actions openly whenever it conducts any military operation.

During a media briefing, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that in Pakistan’s view, there is no distinction between “good” and “bad” Taliban — all terrorists are treated the same.

He emphasized: “Whenever Pakistan conducts an attack, it is declared openly, and we never target civilians. We are a state and respond like a state. Blood and trade cannot go hand in hand; it is unacceptable that we face attacks while trade continues.”

He added that Pakistan’s stance is against terrorism, not the Afghan people. He urged the Taliban administration to act like a state rather than a non-state actor, asking, “How long will the Taliban government remain interim?”

The DG ISPR further highlighted that many recent terrorist incidents involved non-custom-paid vehicles and called for an immediate ban on such vehicles.

Regarding the case of former intelligence chief Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed, the military spokesperson said that his trial is a legal matter and speculation should be avoided. “Once the matter reaches its conclusion, it will be announced immediately,” he added.
