Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly and Government Dissolved After Completion of Constitutional Term

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) — The Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly and its government have been dissolved upon completion of their constitutional term. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the appointment of Justice (Retired) Yar Muhammad as the caretaker Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan.

The assembly was dissolved at midnight between November 24 and 25, marking the end of the tenure of Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan and his cabinet.

Justice (Retd.) Yar Muhammad, a former judge of the Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Court, will take oath of office in the morning. He is currently based in Islamabad and belongs to a respected Sunni family from Astore.

Justice Yar Muhammad obtained his Shariah and Law degree from the International Islamic University Islamabad in 2008. He also served as a representative of the Federal Public Service Commission and conducted interviews for civil judges. He is father to three sons and two daughters.
