PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Rejects By-Election Results, Says “Lowest Turnout in Punjab’s History

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has rejected the results of the recent by-elections, claiming that the voter turnout in Punjab was “the lowest in the province’s history” and reflected the public’s lack of trust in the electoral process.
Speaking exclusively to Geo News, Barrister Gohar said that it was the responsibility of the Election Commission to ensure a free and fair election. “We believe in democracy. According to the numbers we have, PTI is leading in Punjab,” he asserted.
He added that his party does not rely on allegations of rigging but on “public-centric politics,” calling the by-elections “a wake-up call.”
Referring to the political environment, Barrister Gohar said that Haripur had a level playing field where all parties were allowed to hold rallies and campaigns. “But PTI boycotted elections in Punjab because we were not permitted to hold gatherings, rallies, or run an election campaign,” he said.
The PTI chairman also rejected the announced results from **NA-18 Haripur**, claiming that “the results being shown do not reflect reality.”
In NA-18 Haripur, a three-way contest was expected between PTI-backed independent candidate **Shehrnaz Umar Ayub**, PML-N’s **Babar Nawaz Khan**, and PPP’s **Iram Fatima**, along with six other independent candidates.
