Karachi Enforces Stricter Traffic Rules: Helmets Mandatory for Both Motorcycle Riders, Seatbelts Required for Front-Seat Passengers

Karachi – The Karachi Traffic Police have announced a new set of stricter traffic regulations, making helmets and seatbelts compulsory for all individuals seated on motorcycles and in the front seats of vehicles.

In a public message issued by the traffic authorities, it was clarified that **both riders on a motorcycle — whether male or female — must wear helmets**. Failure by the pillion passenger to wear a helmet will result in a **fine of Rs. 5,000**, which will be imposed on the motorcycle owner.

Similarly, the police declared that **both front-seat occupants of a car must wear seatbelts**. If the passenger sitting beside the driver fails to buckle up, the vehicle owner will face a **Rs. 10,000 fine**.

Traffic officials have instructed citizens to strictly comply with these rules, emphasizing that the measures are aimed at improving road safety and reducing traffic-related injuries and fatalities in the city.
