Cold Wave to Intensify Across Pakistan, Lahore Ranked Among World’s Most Polluted Cities

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast a further increase in cold weather across the country. According to the Met Office, most regions will experience **cold and dry conditions**, while **northern areas are likely to face severe cold**, especially during morning and night hours.
Light fog is expected at a few places in the **plains of Punjab** during nighttime. Over the past 24 hours, cold and dry weather prevailed in most parts of the country.
The **lowest temperature** was recorded in **Leh at –5°C**, the Met Office reported.
Meanwhile, **Lahore remains among the world’s most polluted cities**, currently ranking **third** in global air pollution charts. The city’s overall **Air Quality Index (AQI)** was recorded at **194**, indicating unhealthy pollution levels.
In comparison, **New Delhi** topped the list as the most polluted city in the world, followed by **Kolkata** in second place.
