US Lawmakers Call Punjab Government’s Vision a Model for South Asia: Uzma Bukhari

LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Information Uzma Bukhari has said that the United States Congress has praised the vision of the Punjab government, calling it a model for South Asia.

In her statement, Bukhari noted that the letter written by members of the US Congress to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was encouraging and commendable. She added that American lawmakers have acknowledged Maryam Nawaz’s leadership and appreciated her initiatives related to brick kilns and labour reforms.

According to Bukhari, the US Congress lauded Maryam Nawaz’s efforts in environmental protection and the elimination of bonded labour, declaring the modernized brick kiln system an example for the entire region. US lawmakers also recognized that these reforms create attractive investment opportunities for American companies.

She stated that the Congress acknowledged Maryam Nawaz’s success in ending forced labour at brick kilns in line with international obligations, making Punjab an appealing destination for foreign investment. The letter highlighted that Punjab has the potential to become a key gateway for future economic cooperation.

Uzma Bukhari added that US lawmakers view the vision of the Maryam Nawaz-led Punjab government as exemplary in South Asia. She said Maryam Nawaz’s dedication and responsible governance are now gaining global recognition, with her welfare-oriented initiatives becoming her international identity.
