New AJK Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore to Take Oath Today

MUZAFFARABAD: Newly elected Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), **Faisal Mumtaz Rathore**, will take oath of office today at the President House in Muzaffarabad.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader **Faryal Talpur** has already arrived in Muzaffarabad to attend the ceremony, while PPP Chairman **Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari** is also expected to participate.
The development comes after a **successful no-confidence motion** against former AJK Prime Minister **Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq** on Monday. Rathore, who previously served as a member of Anwar-ul-Haq’s cabinet, secured **36 votes** in the assembly, with only **two votes** cast against him. The PPP had earlier claimed the support of **38 lawmakers**.
During his farewell address to the House, former PM Anwar-ul-Haq questioned how a single individual could be held responsible for constitutional and administrative failures, adding that cabinet members also share responsibility. He stressed that the political system can only survive if the country’s borders remain secure, noting that nothing would remain without the presence of Pakistan’s armed forces.
In his address, the new Prime Minister Faisal Rathore acknowledged the role of the **Action Committee**, saying that some of its concerns are genuine while others reflect aspirations.
