Supreme Court Full Court Session Approves Amendments to SC Rules 2025; 17 of 19 Judges Attend

**Islamabad:** The Supreme Court, in a full court session presided over by **Chief Justice Yahya Afridi**, approved amendments to the **Supreme Court Rules 2025**. Out of 19 sitting judges, 17 attended the session, while **Justice Munib Akhtar** and **Justice Ayesha Malik** were absent.

Previously, the Supreme Court had 24 judges. Following the resignations of two judges, the number reduced to 22. After the transfer of three judges to the Federal Shariat Court, the current strength stands at 19 judges.

A committee comprising **Justice Shahid Waheed**, **Justice Irfan Saadat Khan**, **Justice Naeem Afghan**, and **Justice Aqeel Abbasi** conducted a comprehensive review of the **Supreme Court Rules 1980** and drafted the new amendments.

Additionally, **Advocate Munir Pracha** was approved for the designation of **Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court**.
