President Approves Resignations of Justices Mansoor Ali Shah and Athar Minallah

Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the resignations of Supreme Court Justices Mansoor Ali Shah and Athar Minallah.
The two judges had tendered their resignations a day earlier in connection with the controversy surrounding the 27th Constitutional Amendment. Their resignation letters were formally submitted to the President.
According to a statement issued by the Presidency, President Zardari has accepted the resignations of both Justices Mansoor Ali Shah and Athar Minallah.
Sources say that on the night before their resignations, the two judges met their fellow justices in their chambers for farewell meetings. Colleagues advised them against stepping down and tried to convince them until the last moment. Despite the insistence of fellow judges, both Justices remained firm in their decision.
After meeting their colleagues, the judges submitted their resignations and subsequently left the Supreme Court premises.
