Petroleum Prices Likely to Rise by Up to Rs9.60 per Litre in Pakistan

Islamabad: Petroleum prices in Pakistan are expected to increase by up to Rs9.60 per litre for the upcoming 15-day review, according to industry sources.
The anticipated hike is attributed to a regional shortage of diesel in the Gulf. Sources revealed that Pakistan primarily imports diesel from Kuwait, but supply has been disrupted due to maintenance work at a Kuwaiti refinery.
The maintenance, initially scheduled to be completed in early November, has been extended by another 15 days, leading to a diesel shortfall across the region.
According to industry insiders, only two out of the three units at Kuwait’s Al-Zour refinery are fully operational, resulting in reduced production of high-speed diesel (HSD) and an increase in global market prices.
