Imran Khan Will Reverse 26th and 27th Amendments Upon Return to Power: Asad Qaiser

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Qaiser has said that whenever PTI founder Imran Khan returns to power, the 26th and 27th constitutional amendments will be reversed.
Qaiser criticized the current parliament, stating that it has no authority to legislate. Questioning the process of recent amendments, he said, “Is this how laws are amended? They change it once and then say it’s not correct, let’s change it again.” He also remarked that Nawaz Sharif talks about respecting the vote but rarely attends assembly sessions—yet he appeared yesterday.
The PTI leader praised Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Athar Minallah for resigning, saying they deserve tribute. He urged lawyers’ associations and labor unions to stand with them. Qaiser added that PTI will soon convene a meeting to decide its future course of action.
It is worth noting that both the National Assembly and Senate recently passed the 27th Constitutional Amendment with a two-thirds majority. During the presentation of the amendment by the Law Minister, the opposition protested by thumping desks and continued chanting slogans during the clause-by-clause approval.
