Field Marshal Keeps Constant Watch on Cadet College Wana Operation: “No Harm Must Come to the Nation’s Builders”

RAWALPINDI: Field Marshal Asim Munir closely monitored the counter-terrorism operation at Cadet College Wana, directing the forces that “the nation’s builders are our greatest asset — no harm must come to them,” according to security sources.
Sources said the cadets and faculty members of Cadet College Wana displayed exceptional courage and resolve, reaffirming their determination to stand firm against terrorism.
Operation Commander Colonel Muhammad Tahir stated that on November 10, five Afghan terrorists attacked Cadet College Wana — an institution established by the Pakistan Army as a gift for the people of South Waziristan. He said one suicide bomber detonated himself, while others attempted to storm the college gates.
“The terrorists tried to take students hostage, but the security forces’ timely response foiled their nefarious plans,” Colonel Tahir added. “We confined the attackers to a specific block and ensured the complete safety of all cadets.”
Following an intense firefight that lasted from 10:00 to 10:30 p.m., all four terrorists were eliminated. Security forces successfully rescued all 650 students and faculty members without any casualties among them.
A cadet who survived the attack recounted that they were preparing for a drill competition when the explosion occurred. “We knew immediately that the enemies of education were behind this. The Pakistan Army soldiers shielded us and safely evacuated us from the college,” he said.
The cadet further added, “No matter what these enemies do, they cannot stop us from getting an education. Our teachers kept us calm and told us that the Army was here. Thanks to the swift and brave response of our forces, a major tragedy was averted.”
Field Marshal Asim Munir’s continuous supervision of the operation and his instructions to prioritize the safety of the cadets underscored the Army’s commitment to protecting Pakistan’s youth — the true architects of the nation’s future.
