75-Year-Old Mosque Demolished as Rawalpindi District Court Mega Project Commences

Rawalpindi: Demolition work has begun on a **75-year-old historic mosque** located near the District Court Gate in Rawalpindi to make way for the **District Court underpass and overhead bridge mega project**.

As part of the project, the **100-year-old main entrance gate and board of the District Bar Association** were also dismantled. The homes of mosque imams and lawyers’ chambers within the project area have been demolished, along with **14 shops and kiosks**, while a nearby petrol pump was sealed and ordered to be vacated immediately.

**Sardar Manzar Bashir**, President of the District Bar Association, along with Secretary Malik Asad, stated that the administration will provide alternative chambers for lawyers and will oversee the **reconstruction of the mosque**.

Heavy machinery has already begun drilling work at District Court Chowk, and land belonging to **Fatima Jinnah Women University** has also been cleared for the project.
