KP Government Announces Peace Jirga on November 12 — Rules Out Military Operation in the Province

**Islamabad (Daily Qudrat)** — The **Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government** has announced that it will **not allow any military operation** in the province and instead will convene a **Peace Jirga on November 12** to address the deteriorating law and order situation.
The announcement was made by **KP Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati** during a press conference, accompanied by **Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information Shafi Jan**, **Provincial Secretary Ali Asghar**, **PTI General Secretary Peshawar Region Sher Ali**, **Irfan Saleem**, and **former minister Kamran Bangash**.
Speaker Babar Saleem Swati stated that the **assembly has been debating the issue of security for the past two months**, and political leadership across the board agrees that **no new military operation should be launched**.
“All parliamentarians have agreed to form a **special committee and an All-Parties Peace Jirga**, after which **Terms of Reference (TORs)** will be finalized, and final decisions will be made in consultation with the **Corps Commander**,” he said.
He added that the **parliamentary security committee** will prepare TORs and present them to the **Chief Minister**, while representatives from **all political parties and stakeholders** will be invited to the Peace Jirga.
Special Assistant Shafi Jan said that **maintaining law and order** is the government’s **top priority**, and the **Peace Jirga on November 12** will bring together all political leaders, whose recommendations will be included in the TORs.
He emphasized that **decisions must be made transparently** and that **experienced local figures** will also be part of the process.
**PTI Provincial General Secretary Ali Asghar** stated that the **security situation in tribal districts** remains uncertain, and therefore **civil society, lawyers, media, and community elders** will also be included in the Peace Jirga to ensure that **voices from affected areas are heard**.
**Sher Ali**, PTI’s **Peshawar Region General Secretary**, remarked that KP has been **the most affected province**, and all decisions should serve **the public interest**.
Former minister **Kamran Bangash** added that it was an **achievement of the provincial government** to bring all political parties together for a **collective effort toward lasting peace** in the province.
