BNP: 27th Constitutional Amendment Will Be the “Final Nail in the Coffin” of Judicial Independence

**Quetta (Qudrat News):** The **Balochistan National Party (BNP)** has warned that the proposed **27th Constitutional Amendment** will serve as the *“final nail in the coffin”* of judicial independence and the so-called democracy in Pakistan.

In a strongly worded statement, the BNP said that major political parties—whether from Balochistan or at the national level—who are supporting the amendment directly or indirectly, will be remembered by history as **criminals against future generations**. The party alleged that the current “Form-47 rulers” are attempting to **render democratic institutions and the judiciary powerless**.

The statement added that transferring key departments and NFC Award funds back to the federal level violates the **spirit of the 18th Amendment** and undermines provincial autonomy. The BNP reiterated its **complete rejection** of such constitutional changes.

The party highlighted that during the **26th Amendment**, it had expelled its own senators for voting against party policy, proving that it stands firmly by the principles of **constitutional supremacy and democracy** rather than political expediency.

According to the BNP, the ruling elite now seeks to **gain full control over the judiciary** through the 27th Amendment to sustain their incompetent governance. “Those who once claimed to be champions of democracy are now complicit in undermining it,” the statement read, adding that history will not forgive such hypocrisy.

The BNP further warned that manipulating the judiciary for political purposes, while ignoring **justice, human rights, and equality**, leads societies toward destruction. “In the 21st century, people cannot be deceived by authoritarian amendments disguised as reforms,” it said.

The party called upon **democrats, progressives, lawyers, and human rights organizations across Pakistan** to rise against these “undemocratic and oppressive constitutional moves” and form a “solid wall of resistance” in defense of judicial independence.

Reaffirming its position, the BNP stated that under the leadership of **Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal**, it remains steadfast in **rejecting any amendment** that threatens the **NFC Award, judiciary, or human rights**, asserting that it will continue to defend democratic and constitutional values in Pakistan.
