Peshawar High Court Bars NAB from Arresting Azam Swati for Ten Days in Kohistan Scandal

Peshawar: The Peshawar High Court has restrained the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from arresting Senator Azam Swati for ten days in connection with the Upper Kohistan scandal.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Sahibzada Asadullah and Justice Inamullah Khan heard Swati’s petition challenging a NAB notice.
Swati’s counsel, Barrister Waqar, informed the court that NAB is investigating the Upper Kohistan scandal and has included his client in the probe. He argued that there is a likelihood of Swati’s arrest, but the petitioner intends to appear before the accountability court; therefore, time should be granted.
The court directed the petitioner to appear before the accountability court and join the NAB inquiry, instructing NAB to treat him in accordance with the law.
Deputy Prosecutor General NAB, Muhammad Ali, assured the court that the bureau would act lawfully. Subsequently, the court adjourned the hearing.
