Balochistan Government Requests Postponement of Local Body Elections
Quetta: The Balochistan government has formally requested the Provincial Election Commission to postpone the upcoming local body elections due to severe weather conditions and security concerns.
According to sources, the provincial government sent an official letter to the Election Commission, urging it to delay the polls until the situation improves.
It is worth mentioning that the **Balochistan High Court** had earlier directed the holding of local body elections in six districts. The **Deputy Commissioner of Quetta** has already been appointed as the **District Returning Officer (DRO)** for the elections.
The government stated that peaceful and transparent elections require a conducive environment and that new dates should be announced once weather and security conditions become favorable.
