Indian Intelligence Tried to Recruit Pakistani Fisherman with Financial Lure: Atta Tarar

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Atta Tarar revealed that India’s intelligence agency attempted to recruit a Pakistani fisherman by offering him money to work for them.

Addressing a joint press conference in Islamabad alongside Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Atta Tarar said that following the failure of “Operation Sandur,” India launched a misinformation and disinformation campaign against Pakistan.

He stated that Indian intelligence agencies detained a Pakistani fisherman named Ejaz Mallah and tasked him with gathering information inside Pakistan. “When Mallah was instructed to buy Army, Rangers, and Navy uniforms, Pakistan’s intelligence agencies began monitoring him,” Tarar said, adding that India could not tolerate Pakistan’s recent success in exposing its covert operations.

The minister played a video of Ejaz Mallah’s confessional statement, in which Mallah admitted that he and his companions were arrested by Indian authorities while fishing. “They told me to bring back Pakistani currency, cigarettes, and SIM cards, and to collect military uniforms,” Mallah confessed, adding that he later sent some photos to Indian intelligence before being arrested by Pakistani agencies.

Minister Talal Chaudhry said the case exposes India’s propaganda operation against Pakistan. “Our media and institutions have won the information war. Ejaz Mallah was arrested by the Indian Coast Guard in September and was offered money to spy. Evidence shows he received ninety-five thousand rupees from Indian handlers,” he added.

Chaudhry also revealed that India’s disinformation narrative linked to the Pahalgam incident had mentioned Chinese satellites, and similar tactics were being used now involving Pakistani telecom SIMs. “We will share related videos and audio clips with the media,” he said, asserting that Pakistan’s security institutions remain fully alert and vigilant.
