Governor Balochistan Abolishes BS Programs in Degree Colleges; Only Associate Degree Allowed

**QUETTA (Qudrat Daily):** In a major decision aimed at protecting the quality of higher education, **Governor Balochistan** has ordered the **termination of BS (Bachelor of Studies) programs** in all degree colleges across the province, allowing only **Associate Degree Programs (ADP)** to continue.

According to an official **notification issued by the Governor’s Secretariat**, the introduction of BS programs in degree colleges had caused a **sharp decline in student enrollments at 11 public sector universities** across Balochistan. The notification noted that this decline negatively affected both **academic activities and revenue** at the universities, ultimately compromising the **overall standard of higher education** in the province.

The notification further stated that while **degree colleges charge lower fees** for BS programs, **they lack the required qualified faculty and academic expertise** to effectively teach at the BS level, posing a serious threat to education quality.

In light of these concerns, the governor directed that **all BS programs in colleges be discontinued immediately** and that **only Associate Degree Programs** be permitted. The notification also referenced a similar precedent in **Khyber Pakhtunkhwa**, where BS programs were initially launched in colleges but later abolished for the same reasons.
