Federal Government to Establish Modern Co-Working Centers for Startups and Freelancers

Islamabad: The federal government has announced a major initiative to support Pakistan’s **startups and freelancers** by establishing **modern co-working centers** across the country. The move aims to provide **young entrepreneurs and IT professionals** with state-of-the-art facilities, business mentorship, and networking opportunities.

Under the supervision of the **Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT)**, these centers will be dedicated to **freelancers, startups, and IT companies**, offering modern workspaces, training programs, and access to potential investors and business networks.

According to official sources, the MoITT plans to establish **47 co-working centers during the current fiscal year**, with a target of **250 centers nationwide by February 2027**. The initiative is part of the **Prime Minister’s Startup Support Program**, designed to empower young entrepreneurs and prepare them for global market challenges.

The **Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB)** has invited applications from both the **public and private sectors** to collaborate on the project. Partner banks will offer **interest-free loans of up to Rs 10 million** to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) grow. Special focus will be given to **training and business guidance in smaller cities** to ensure equal opportunities for young talent across the country.

The project will operate under a **Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model**, with both sectors jointly covering training and operational costs. Each center in major cities will span approximately **3,500 square feet**, while centers in smaller towns will emphasize **entrepreneurial training and mentorship**.

Industry experts have welcomed the decision, calling it a **game-changer for Pakistan’s digital entrepreneurship ecosystem**. They believe these national co-working centers will provide young innovators with **world-class infrastructure** and help position Pakistan as a growing **hub for digital startups and freelancing**.
