FIA Gujranwala Secures Convictions of 164 Human Smugglers, Recovers Rs880.96 Million in Six Months

Gujranwala: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has successfully secured convictions against 164 human smugglers in the Gujranwala Zone during the first six months of the current year, marking a significant achievement in its crackdown on human trafficking networks.

According to the FIA, several of the convicted smugglers received lengthy prison terms, including sentences of up to 22 years. The convictions have led to the dismantling of notorious human smuggling groups headed by individuals such as Aslam Mayo, Sarwar Sindhu, Nadeem Mayo, and Rauf, who were involved in illegal migration operations.

The FIA Director stated that dangerous human smuggler Sajjad was sentenced to 19 years in prison, while another smuggler, Sagheer, received a 10-year prison sentence.

In addition to the convictions, the FIA Gujranwala Zone reported a record recovery of Rs880.96 million in cases and inquiries related to human smuggling and other offenses.

The agency reiterated its commitment to taking strict legal action against human smugglers and disrupting organized networks involved in facilitating illegal migration. Officials emphasized that the ongoing crackdown aims to protect citizens from exploitation and curb human trafficking activities across the region.
