China Focuses on Self-Improvement, Not Replacing or Challenging Any Country: President Xi Jinping

Seoul: Chinese President **Xi Jinping** has emphasized that China has no intention of challenging or replacing any other nation, stating that Beijing’s focus remains on improving its own performance and fostering stability.
According to Chinese media reports, President Xi made these remarks during his **official visit to South Korea**, where Chinese and U.S. economic and trade teams held **comprehensive discussions** and agreed to continue efforts to resolve outstanding issues.
During the talks, both the **Chinese and American presidents** agreed to **maintain dialogue** and **strengthen cooperation** in areas such as energy and trade.
President Xi stated, *“China is confident. Its economy is like a vast ocean capable of withstanding all kinds of risks and challenges. China never seeks to challenge or replace any country; instead, it focuses on doing its own work well. Dialogue is always better than confrontation.”*
He further noted that relations between **China and the United States** remain generally stable and urged both sides to **follow up on discussions** and ensure progress.
“Trade and economic relations should be the cornerstone of China-U.S. friendship,” Xi said, adding that **balanced relations** between the two nations should center around **mutual economic cooperation**.
He also called on both sides to **reduce conflicts and increase cooperation**, stressing the need to focus on **long-term mutual interests**.
President Xi highlighted ongoing **positive cooperation** between Beijing and Washington on curbing **illegal immigration**, and reaffirmed joint commitments to **combat telecom fraud, artificial intelligence-related crimes, and money laundering**.
