JUI-F and PTI Agree to Nominate Mahmood Khan Achakzai as Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly

Islamabad: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have agreed to nominate Mahmood Khan Achakzai as the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly.
The understanding was reached during a dinner hosted by JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman at his residence in honor of a PTI delegation. The delegation included former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, provincial president Junaid Akbar, Shahram Tarakai, and other senior leaders.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the prevailing political situation, parliamentary strategy, and regional developments in detail. The PTI delegation urged Maulana Fazlur Rehman to play an active role in uniting the opposition within Parliament.
Both parties subsequently agreed on the nomination of Mahmood Khan Achakzai as the joint candidate for the position of Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly.
On this occasion, PTI also proposed holding a *National Peace Jirga* in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a suggestion welcomed by Maulana Fazlur Rehman. The PTI leaders additionally sought JUI-F’s cooperation in the upcoming Senate by-election for a vacant seat.
