Türkiye Signs $11 Billion Deal with UK to Purchase 20 Eurofighter Typhoon Jets

Ankara: Türkiye has finalized a landmark **$11 billion defense agreement** with the **United Kingdom** to acquire **20 Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets**, a move aimed at significantly enhancing its air defense capabilities.

According to international media reports, the signing ceremony was attended by **Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan** and **UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer** in Ankara.

Prime Minister Starmer hailed the agreement as a “**hugely significant deal**,” noting that it represents **£8 billion (approximately $10.7 billion)** worth of orders that will support **thousands of British jobs for the next decade**. He described the production of Eurofighter Typhoons as “a major success for the UK defense industry.”

The **UK Ministry of Defence** called the deal **the largest fighter jet agreement of the century**, emphasizing that it would boost Türkiye’s aerial capabilities and strengthen **NATO’s southeastern flank**.

Speaking in Ankara, Starmer added:

> “This region represents NATO’s southeastern front, and enhancing its defense capacity through cooperation with Türkiye is of critical importance to the alliance.”

President Erdoğan praised the agreement as a **“promising new chapter”** in Türkiye–UK defense relations, saying:

> “We view this as a strategic step that deepens our partnership and reflects the strong bond between two close allies.”
