Iran Says U.S. Requested Talks as Russia Offers Mediation in Tensions

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has claimed that U.S. President Donald Trump has requested negotiations with Tehran, adding that Iran is currently reviewing the proposal.

In his statement, Araghchi said that Trump’s call for dialogue comes after the United States failed to achieve its objectives in what he described as a conflict imposed on Iran.

The remarks come amid renewed diplomatic activity involving regional tensions, as Russia has also offered to mediate between Washington and Tehran.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Moscow. Following the meeting, Putin stated that Russia would do everything possible to support the interests of regional countries, particularly Iran.

He also reaffirmed that strategic cooperation between Russia and Iran would continue.

Araghchi, on his part, thanked the Russian president for Moscow’s support and said that bilateral relations between Iran and Russia are based on a strategic partnership that will continue to strengthen over time.
