Turkey Signs $11 Billion Deal with UK to Purchase 20 Eurofighter Typhoon Jets

Ankara:Turkey has signed a major defense agreement with the United Kingdom to acquire **20 Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets**, significantly boosting its air defense capabilities.

The signing ceremony took place in **Ankara**, attended by **Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan** and **British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer**.

In his address, President Erdoğan described the deal as a **new symbol of strategic partnership** between Turkey and the UK, emphasizing that the agreement marks an important milestone in defense cooperation between the two nations.

According to reports, the deal is valued at approximately **$11 billion**, with the **first batch of Eurofighter jets expected to arrive in Turkey by 2030.**

The **Turkish Ministry of Defense** also revealed that Ankara is in talks with **Qatar and Oman** to purchase an additional **12 Typhoon jets from each**, aiming to strengthen its air power and maintain regional superiority, particularly against rivals such as Israel.

Turkish officials further stated that the country plans to acquire a **total of 120 advanced fighter aircraft** as part of its broader defense modernization strategy.

It is worth noting that **an initial framework agreement** for the purchase of **40 Eurofighter Typhoons** was reached between Turkey and the United Kingdom in **July** this year.
