Protest in Chaman Against Merger of Levies Force Into Police

Chaman: The **All Parties Traders Alliance** held a massive protest in **Chaman** against the government’s decision to **merge the Levies Force with the police**. The demonstration saw participation from various political and social groups, including the **Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party**, **Jamiat Nazriyati**, **Jamaat-e-Islami**, **Mazloom Awami Tehreek**, **PTM**, **Barakzai Qaumi Ittehad**, local traders, political workers, and members of civil society.

Protesters marched through different roads of the city in the form of a rally, which later turned into a **public gathering outside the Deputy Commissioner’s Office**. Participants carried banners and placards rejecting the merger of the Levies Force and demanding the **issuance of special border-crossing cards** and **restoration of employment opportunities** for local residents at the **Chaman border**.

Speakers at the rally said that the **Levies Force is a trusted local security institution** that has always played a crucial role in maintaining law and order in the region. They stressed that any decision to merge the Levies Force with the police **without consulting local representatives** is unacceptable.

The protesters demanded that the **current Levies system be maintained**, special cards be issued for **tribal residents** for border movement, and **job opportunities for locals** in border trade and related sectors be ensured.
