Islamabad: SP Adeel Akbar’s Alleged Suicide — Operator Reveals Final Moments Inside Police Vehicle

Islamabad:Shocking new details have emerged in the alleged suicide of **SP Industrial Area Islamabad, Adeel Akbar**, as the operator who was inside the vehicle at the time has given his initial statement to investigators.
According to police sources, **both the driver and the operator** who were present in the vehicle have been taken into custody for questioning. Investigators are probing why **SP Adeel Akbar requested the service weapon** and under what circumstances it was handed over to him.
The operator revealed that **SP Adeel Akbar was on his way to the Establishment Division** regarding a promotion matter when he received a **phone call at around 4:23 PM**. Following the call, he directed the driver to go to the **Foreign Office** for document verification. After a short visit, he returned to the vehicle.
The operator stated that soon after, **SP Adeel received another phone call** and asked the operator to hand him the gun near a private hotel. “He asked if the gun was functional,” the operator recalled. “Then he said, ‘Give me the magazine — how many bullets does it have?’ I told him there were **50 rounds**.”
SP Adeel, who was sitting in the **back seat of the official double-cabin vehicle**, inserted the magazine and moments later, **a gunshot was heard**. The bullet reportedly **struck his forehead and exited from the back of his head**, killing him instantly.
The operator immediately informed the control room, saying, *“SP Sahib has fired accidentally!”* The driver then rushed the vehicle toward **PIMS Hospital**, where doctors confirmed his death.
Police are now investigating **multiple angles**, including **the nature of the phone calls, weapon handling, and forensic evidence** from the vehicle. Officials say a **comprehensive inquiry** is underway to determine whether the death was a suicide or if foul play was involved.
