Met Office Dismisses Reports of ‘Severe Winter’ in Pakistan This Year

KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has denied reports predicting an “extremely cold” winter across the country this year.
According to the PMD, rainfall between **December and February** is expected to remain **normal or slightly below normal**. While some areas may experience **temporary cold spells** due to passing western disturbances, claims of an unusually harsh or record-breaking winter lack any **scientific basis**.
The department emphasized that there is **no scientific evidence** suggesting an exceptionally cold or unprecedented winter in any part of Pakistan.
