Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Announces Grand ‘King Salman Gate’ Project in Makkah

MAKKAH: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has officially announced the launch of the monumental **“King Salman Gate”** project in the holy city of Makkah, aimed at transforming the city’s infrastructure and enhancing services for millions of pilgrims and residents.
According to Arab media, the massive development will span **12 million square meters** near the Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram). The project is designed to set a new benchmark in urban planning and spiritual hospitality in the heart of Islam’s holiest city.
The **King Salman Gate** project will feature **modern residential complexes, cultural centers, commercial zones**, and **world-class facilities** for pilgrims and visitors. It will also include **indoor and outdoor prayer areas capable of accommodating up to 900,000 worshippers**.
The development will be directly integrated with Makkah’s **public transportation network**, ensuring convenient and efficient access to the Grand Mosque.
Saudi officials stated that the project is a key component of **Vision 2030**, the kingdom’s long-term plan to diversify its economy and modernize its urban centers. Once completed, it is expected to create over **300,000 jobs by 2036** and significantly boost religious tourism in Saudi Arabia.
