CM Sohail Afridi Says Those Blocking Meeting with Imran Khan Should Realize I’m the Chief Minister

PESHAWAR: Newly elected Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has said that those preventing his meeting with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan should realize that he is the Chief Minister and represents millions of people.

Speaking to the media upon his arrival at the Peshawar High Court, Afridi stated that he was on his way to meet the PTI founder and hoped the meeting would take place. “I represent millions of citizens. Those stopping the meeting should understand that I am the Chief Minister,” he remarked.

Afridi also dismissed reports about the formation of the provincial cabinet, calling the circulating list “fake.” He clarified that the final decision on the cabinet will be made after consultation with Imran Khan.

Earlier, Chief Minister Afridi appeared before the Peshawar High Court to seek protective bail. The two-member bench comprising Justice Ejaz Anwar and Justice Naeem Anwar heard the plea and granted protective bail, restraining the police from arresting him in any cases.

During the hearing, Justice Ejaz Anwar noted that several FIRs had been registered against the petitioner, to which the Advocate General responded humorously, saying, “We don’t even know how many FIRs there are — there might even be some against me.”
