Supreme Court Approves Live Broadcast of Hearings on 26th Constitutional Amendment Case

Islamabad: In a landmark decision on Tuesday, the **Supreme Court of Pakistan** approved the **live broadcast** of proceedings related to petitions challenging the **26th Constitutional Amendment**, opening the high-profile case to **public scrutiny**.

The constitutional bench, headed by **Justice Aminuddin Khan**, issued the order after hearing preliminary arguments from the petitioners’ counsel, who urged the court to first decide on the request for live streaming to ensure transparency in the judicial process.

During the hearing, **Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail** commented on the dual nature of such transparency, noting, *“Our tragedy is that we tend to misuse everything. We want live streaming to educate the public, which is why the proceedings should be aired — but it also exposes us.”*

After brief deliberations, the bench announced its decision to allow the proceedings to be televised, emphasizing openness and accountability in judicial matters.

While issuing the order, **Justice Aminuddin Khan** remarked, *“It is up to the lawyers to decide how they will present their arguments — we are here to serve the nation.”*

The bench later **adjourned the hearing until Wednesday at 11:30 a.m.**, when further arguments on the constitutional petitions will resume.
