Corruption, Not Insurgency, Is Balochistan’s Biggest Problem: CM Sarfraz Bugti

Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister **Mir Sarfraz Bugti** has said that the province’s greatest challenge is not insurgency or law and order, but **corruption**, which has deeply damaged institutions, social structures, and public trust.

Speaking at the **closing ceremony of the Inter-University Sports Festival** organized by **BUITEMS University** on **Anti-Corruption Day**, CM Bugti stressed that without eradicating corruption, achieving development, justice, and good governance is impossible.

He highlighted his government’s **accountability measures**, noting that efforts to curb corruption in Balochistan are being strengthened through collaboration with **NAB**, the **Chief Minister’s Inspection Team (CMIT)**, and other anti-corruption bodies. “The accountability process is free from political or personal motives, and institutions enjoy complete autonomy,” he said.

Citing an example of transparency, CM Bugti revealed that the CMIT chairman had even filed a report against his own brother, underscoring that **no one is above the law**.

Emphasizing the role of youth, the chief minister said, “The true strength of a state lies not in weapons, but in its educated, conscious, and honest youth.” He urged young people to reject false propaganda and embrace truth and critical thinking, adding, “You may disagree with the government, but the state has committed no sin.”

Bugti defined corruption broadly, saying it is not limited to financial misconduct but also includes **neglect of duty and breach of public trust**. He noted that patriotism is reflected not through slogans but through character, respect for law, and integrity.

The CM reaffirmed his commitment that **Balochistan’s resources are a public trust** and will only be used for the welfare of its people. He said the government is encouraging honest officers while taking indiscriminate action against corrupt elements.

Concluding his speech, he called on the youth to unite against corruption, saying, “If today’s generation stands together for transparency, future generations will inherit a clean, strong, and prosperous Balochistan.
