First Winter Snowfall Hits Gilgit, Chitral, and Kalam; Several Tourists Stranded

Gilgit-Baltistan: The **first snowfall of the winter season** has begun in the **northern regions of Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa**, covering scenic destinations such as **Chitral, Kalam, Malam Jabba, and Gutti Meadows** in a blanket of snow.
While the **snowfall has created breathtaking landscapes**, it has also **caused travel disruptions** and **stranded several tourists** due to slippery and blocked mountain roads.
According to reports, **multiple vehicles were trapped in Gutti Meadows**, a popular tourist spot in Gilgit-Baltistan, leaving passengers facing **severe difficulties in freezing conditions**.
A post by *‘Gilgit-Baltistan Tourism’* on social media platform **X (formerly Twitter)** urged the **district administration and provincial government** to take immediate action to **rescue stranded tourists** and ensure their safety.

Authorities have also **advised travelers** to **check weather and road conditions** before attempting to travel through **Deosai or Chilam Chowki routes**, where **heavy snowfall** has made access difficult.
