Pakistan Reaffirms Support for Independent Palestinian State with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as Capital: FO

Islamabad: Pakistan has reiterated its unwavering support for the establishment of an **independent and viable Palestinian state** with **Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem)** as its capital, in accordance with international law and relevant **UN resolutions**.

In a statement issued by the **Foreign Office**, the spokesperson welcomed **Hamas’s response** to U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace initiative, appreciating the development as a positive step that could pave the way for an **immediate ceasefire** and **restoration of peace in Gaza**.

The spokesperson emphasized that Pakistan’s stance is **clear and consistent**—the **bloodshed of innocent Palestinians** must stop, **hostages and prisoners** should be released, and **uninterrupted humanitarian aid** must be ensured. Pakistan also called for a **credible political process** to achieve lasting peace in the region.

The Foreign Office further stated that Pakistan **demands an immediate halt to Israeli attacks** on Gaza and commends President Trump’s efforts aimed at peace in the region, expressing hope that these would lead to a **sustainable ceasefire** and a **just, comprehensive, and durable peace**.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s **principled support** for the **Palestinian cause**, the spokesperson said Pakistan stands in **full solidarity** with the Palestinian people in their **legitimate struggle for self-determination**.

Pakistan underscored that the ultimate goal is the creation of an **independent, contiguous, and viable Palestinian state** based on **pre-1967 borders**, with **Al-Quds Al-Sharif** as its capital.
