By-Elections for Local Government Seats in Balochistan to Be Held on October 2

Quetta:The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced that by-elections for vacant Chairman and Vice Chairman seats in local government institutions across several districts of Balochistan will be held on **Thursday, October 2, 2025**.

According to the notification, the elections will take place in the **Municipal Committee and Union Council No. 22 Anjira Mehrabad of District Surab**, the **Municipal Committee and Union Council No. 08 of District Sherani**, **Union Councils No. 37 and 38 of District Kech**, and the **District Council seat of Zhob**.

To ensure transparency and fairness, **Assistant Commissioners, Additional Deputy Commissioners, and District Education Officers** of the concerned districts have been appointed as Returning and Presiding Officers. They have also been granted **First-Class Magistrate powers** on **October 1 and 2** to enable swift legal action in case of any violation of electoral laws.

The ECP emphasized that all officials and institutions must strictly adhere to the **electoral code of conduct** and ensure that the elections are conducted peacefully and transparently.
