The Simpsons Movie” Sequel Confirmed, Set to Release in July 2027

Los Angeles:After nearly two decades of anticipation, fans of *The Simpsons* finally have their wish come true: 20th Century Studios has officially confirmed *The Simpsons Movie* sequel, scheduled to hit theaters on **July 23, 2027**.
The announcement was made with a witty Instagram poster showing a hand snatching a donut, captioned *“Homer’s coming back for seconds”*. As fans know, Homer Simpson’s obsession with donuts is legendary — hinting that his hunger may once again trigger chaos on the big screen.
Created by cartoonist **Matt Groening**, *The Simpsons* premiered in 1989 and has since become the longest-running scripted primetime American TV series, completing **37 seasons** with renewals already confirmed through its 40th. The story revolves around the dysfunctional yet lovable Simpson family: donut-obsessed father Homer, patient mother Marge, mischievous son Bart, intelligent daughter Lisa, and silent but clever baby Maggie.
The first film, released in 2007, saw Homer’s recklessness endangering the entire town of Springfield. It grossed over **$500 million worldwide**, surprising Hollywood with its success. The film famously ended with baby Maggie whispering *“sequel”*, leaving fans waiting for years.
Delays in the sequel were partly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as confirmed by executive producer Al Jean, who said discussions had been on hold. However, Disney’s recent animated blockbuster *Inside Out 2*, which earned **$1.6 billion globally**, reignited confidence in animated franchises — paving the way for The Simpsons’ cinematic comeback.
While the plot of the new film remains under wraps, one thing is certain: Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie will return to make audiences laugh, think, and perhaps stumble into another worldwide disaster.
