BMW Issues Fire Risk Warning, Advises Owners to Park Cars Outdoors

Karachi: German luxury automaker **BMW has issued an urgent safety warning** to vehicle owners, advising them to park their cars outdoors due to the risk of fire.
According to the company, a defect has been identified in certain BMW models, particularly those manufactured between **2015 and 2021**, which could cause vehicles to catch fire. Experts explain that water may enter the starter motor, leading to rust, short circuits, and a potential fire while the car is parked or in motion.
Both BMW and the **U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)** have instructed owners to park their vehicles away from homes or buildings to avoid major accidents until repairs are carried out.
BMW confirmed that the repair process will begin soon, involving the replacement of the starter motor and, in some cases, the battery. All repairs will be provided **free of charge** to owners.
This is not the first time BMW has faced such an issue. In **2018**, South Korea fined the company **$10 million** after 50 vehicles caught fire in a single year, with investigations revealing that BMW had failed to recall 172,000 cars in time.
