Defense Minister Khawaja Asif Hails PM Shehbaz, Field Marshal Asim Munir’s Meeting with U.S. President Trump

Islamabad – Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has welcomed the high-level meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and U.S. President Donald Trump, terming it a historic breakthrough.

In a statement shared on social media, Khawaja Asif said: *“Victory over India, a landmark defense pact with Saudi Arabia, and unprecedented progress in Pakistan-U.S. relations are the defining achievements of this year.”*

He added that **2025 is proving to be a year full of successes**, crediting the “hybrid system partnership” for maintaining the momentum of these accomplishments.

Earlier today, PM Shehbaz Sharif and President Trump held a significant 80-minute meeting at the Oval Office. The session was also attended by U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. While no details of the closed-door talks were disclosed, the meeting is being seen as a milestone in Islamabad-Washington relations.
