Flour Crisis Deepens in Balochistan as 20kg Bag Hits Rs2,300

Quetta: The flour crisis in Balochistan has worsened, pushing the price of a **20kg flour bag to Rs2,300** over the past three weeks, causing severe hardship for the public.
Despite having **800,000 wheat bags in stock**, the provincial food department failed to purchase wheat in March and April this year and even sold off the old stock. As a result, the province is now left with **no reserves**.
Officials revealed that the department, after approval from the Balochistan cabinet, sold the remaining wheat at throwaway prices to **clear warehouses amid fears of spoilage**. This move resulted in a **loss of Rs6 billion** to the provincial food department.
With no wheat stock available, the crisis has escalated, leaving the people of Balochistan to bear the brunt of soaring flour prices.
