Government Revises Benevolent Fund Policy: How Much Will Employees Get at Retirement?

Islamabad: The federal government has decided to revise the **Benevolent Fund policy** regarding retirement payments for government employees.
During a meeting of the **National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat**, chaired by Malik Abrar Ahmed, officials informed members that under the new policy:
* Employees from **Grade 1 to 10** will receive **PKR 500,000** at retirement,
* Employees from **Grade 10 to 16** will receive **PKR 1 million**,
* Employees from **Grade 16 and above** will receive **PKR 1.5 million**.
Officials further revealed that the Benevolent Fund has **hired a firm** to assess the financial impact of the revised policy. The firm will also provide the timeline for implementation.
PPP member Agha Rafiullah criticized the government, stating that *“the federal government seems to wait for officers to die after retirement.”*
The committee granted the Benevolent Fund **90 days** to complete the financial assessment.
The meeting also sought a briefing on **flood relief measures** announced by the Prime Minister. Members raised concerns about the **mechanism of relief distribution**, prompting the committee to summon the **Federal Minister for Energy** in the next session for further clarification.
