National Policy on Refugee Repatriation Underway: Balochistan CM Assures Humanitarian Approach

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti held a detailed meeting with Afghanistan’s Acting Consul General, Maulvi Muhammad Habib Nasir, to discuss the repatriation and dignified return of Afghan refugees from the province.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Bugti said that the Balochistan government is effectively implementing the national policy on the repatriation of foreigners. He assured that Afghan refugees returning home are being extended maximum assistance by the provincial administration, with special care instructions already issued for women, children, and the elderly.

He further stated that the provincial government remains in constant contact with the **United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)** to ensure the repatriation process moves forward with dignity and humanitarian considerations. “Our traditions are rooted in respect for humanity and brotherhood. We regard Afghan women as our mothers and sisters, and have strictly directed the administration to ensure no refugee faces hardship during the repatriation process,” Bugti emphasized.

To ensure smooth coordination and immediate problem-solving, **senior officer Muhammad Fareedoon** has been appointed as the focal person to oversee administrative matters and facilitate refugees during their return.

The Chief Minister stressed that the return of Afghan refugees will be a gradual and dignified process, with the provincial government providing all possible humanitarian support. He added that the dignified repatriation of Afghan refugees is in the best interest of both Balochistan and the two brotherly nations.

The meeting was also attended by MPA Engineer Zmarak Khan Achakzai and civil society representative Alauddin Khilji.
