BSAC Condemns Suppression of Literary Program, Demands Reinstatement of Suspended Students

Quetta:The **Baloch Students Action Committee (BSAC)** has strongly condemned the disruption of a literary program organized in tribute to renowned Baloch poet **Mubarak Qazi** on his second death anniversary, accusing university administrations in Lasbela and Khuzdar of pursuing **anti-education and authoritarian policies**.

According to BSAC, the event organized by its **Othal Zone** was forcibly shut down by police after university officials intervened. Students resisting the move were later summoned by a disciplinary committee, and several were suspended. The organization termed this action “shameful and condemnable,” adding that academic and literary activities are being treated as **illegal acts under a climate of fear and harassment**.

The committee also criticized the **Balochistan University of Engineering and Information Technology, Khuzdar**, for allegedly harassing students, withholding scholarships and recreational funds, and expelling students under “fabricated rules and regulations.” BSAC said students are further burdened by the deliberate suspension of basic facilities such as **internet and electricity** on campus.

Calling Mubarak Qazi a **national poet** held in deep respect across Baloch society, BSAC vowed to continue its struggle for students’ rights, academic freedom, and intellectual activities. The group demanded the **immediate reinstatement of suspended students** and urged university administrations to abandon “education-hostile tactics” and support students’ academic and creative growth.
