Punjab Launches First Interest-Free E-Taxi Scheme on Easy Installments
LAHORE: The Punjab government has formally launched its first-ever e-taxi scheme, offering electric vehicles on easy, interest-free installments.
In the first phase, 1,100 electric vehicles will be distributed—1,000 allocated for the business sector and 100 for individual applicants. Additionally, 30 e-taxis have been reserved exclusively for women.
Applications can be submitted online at *e-taxi.punjab.gov.pk*. The vehicles will be provided on a five-year installment plan, with the government covering the interest portion of payments.
Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan stated that the initiative will create new employment opportunities, promote eco-friendly transport, and encourage the adoption of electric vehicles across the province.
