Election Commission Reserves Verdict in Awami Raj Party Intra-Party Election Case

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has reserved its verdict in the case concerning intra-party elections of the Awami Raj Party.

A two-member bench, headed by the ECP Sindh member, heard the case. During the proceedings, ECP officials informed the commission that Awami Raj Party President Jamshed Dasti had submitted his resignation, but the party had not confirmed it. They further stated that the party’s secretary general had also failed to respond on the matter.

At this point, ECP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa member Justice (R) Ikramullah Khan remarked that Jamshed Dasti had contested the general elections on a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) ticket, questioning how he could remain a member of two parties simultaneously.

Following the arguments, the Election Commission reserved its decision in the case.
