Quetta: Transport Secretary Warns Action Against Misconduct with Green Bus Drivers; Local Bus Owners Protest Ongoing Restrictions

Quetta:Secretary Transport Balochistan, Muhammad Hayat Kakar, has said that strict legal action will be taken against those who obstruct Green Buses or misbehave with drivers. He confirmed that the district administration has been notified and FIRs will be registered on drivers’ complaints against the culprits.

Meanwhile, the United Local Bus Association leaders, including President Akhtar Jan Kakar and Sher Ahmed Baloch, held a press conference at Quetta Press Club alongside other representatives. They strongly condemned the **constant suspension of local bus services by traffic police and RTA**, stating that bus owners, drivers, and staff have been pushed into poverty.

The association argued that despite following **High Court orders**—which banned 52-seater buses while allowing 26-seaters to operate—local buses are still being stopped and owners harassed. They said this crackdown has left thousands unemployed and deprived citizens of affordable transport, forcing them to spend far more on travel.

The union urged Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti and other top officials to intervene, enforce court directives, and lift what they called “unjustified restrictions” on local buses. They warned that if their demands are ignored, they will continue to raise their voice at every platform.
