TikTok Ban Looms? Punjab Assembly Resolution Targets ‘Obscenity and Immorality’

Lahore: A resolution has been submitted in the Punjab Assembly seeking a **permanent ban on TikTok** across Pakistan, citing concerns over obscenity, immorality, and its negative influence on youth. The motion was tabled by opposition member Farukh Javed.

According to the text of the resolution, TikTok’s so-called “mafia” is allegedly promoting vulgarity and indecent behavior, with its live chat feature particularly accused of encouraging inappropriate conversations and unethical conduct among young users.

The resolution further highlighted that underage children are increasingly exposed to harmful and immoral content through the app. It argued that TikTok is luring the younger generation toward “cheap fame and easy money,” pushing them into moral decline, which goes against Islamic and social values.

The resolution urged that TikTok and its live chat feature be banned immediately and permanently to safeguard cultural and ethical standards. It also called on the Punjab Assembly to pressure the federal government into enforcing the ban to protect children and youth from “moral destruction.”
