IMF Understands Severity of Flood Crisis, Says Finance Minister Aurangzeb

TOBA TEK SINGH: Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has said that Pakistan is already part of the IMF program, and the Fund has understood the grave situation caused by the recent floods.

During a visit to Kamalia in flood-hit Toba Tek Singh district, the finance minister said that before seeking international funds, the government is utilizing its own resources. “The whole world can see the hardships the people of Pakistan are going through,” he added.

Aurangzeb noted that roads, bridges, houses, and other infrastructure have been destroyed by the floods, and in such a situation, *“it is not appropriate to send electricity bills to disaster-hit citizens.”*

He expressed gratitude that Toba Tek Singh witnessed minimal loss of life, praying that water recedes quickly so that the next crops can be cultivated. “We have to rebuild this infrastructure to its original state,” he said.

The finance minister further stated that the scale of the ongoing relief operations is unprecedented in the country’s history and expressed deep gratitude to the Pakistan Army for its support.
