Strokes of opposition and Balochistan government
Provincial assembly of Balochistan turned into a quarrelsome debating club when a question was read out in question and answer session of the assembly.
Leader of the opposition at Balochistan Assembly Mir Younas Aziz Zehri enraged on,an answer provided by the irrigation department and Minister of Irrigation Sadiq umrani from the treasury benches of the government.
A question( 228 assembly secretariat) was asked by Mr Younas Zehri that “How much budget has been allocated for Sunigar Dam in Khuzdar district of Balochistan?
Who was given the tender of the Sunigar project? along with revisions in the Schemes”?
Minister for Irrigation Mir Sadiq Umari Provided details of the Sunigar Dam, which stated that the Proper Work on Dam site was begun in November of 2023.
The budget for the Sunigar dam was estimated to be about 4456 million Ruppes.but, after the first revision,a new estimation was counted about 5114.75 million Ruppes.
Meanwhile,for the fiscal year of 2024_25,
1500 million Ruppes were allocated by the federal government that were used until June of 2025.
Along with the federal government’s allocation, the provincial government allocated 114 million Ruppes, which were being used in the fiscal year of 2024 _2025.
Minister for irrigation stated that the tender of the Project “Sunigar Dam” was given to the private company named as “Anwar ul Haq and company.”
Mr, Zehri didn’t seem satisfied by the answers provided in written and verbally by Sadiq Umrani.
The shocking and revealing questions of Mr Zehri echoed in the house,
Mr Zehri, while speaking on a point of order, emphasised and asked again, “How and why were revisions made in the scheme again and again?”
“Is this the incompetence of consultant, project director, or someone else?” Said Younas zehri.
Speaker of the Balochistan Assembly Captain Rtd: Abdul Khaliq Achakzai referred the questions to the Standing Committee after a harsh debate in the assembly and ordered all concerned personnels to appear in up coming session of the assembly,in order to satisfy members of the assembly having concerns over these developments.
